“Liability of Internet Service Provider Related to Trade Mark Infringement in Europe and Japan”


Ms. Asako Wechs Hatanaka, a Japanese lawyer, is currently a Ph.D candidate at CEIPI in France. She has been awarded scholarships from Max Planck Institute (Max-Planck-Institut für Immaterialgüter- und Wettbewerbsrecht) as well as GRUR (Deutsche Vereinigung für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht) for the project "Mediation and the Out-of-Court Settlement of Disputes in Intellectual Property Law". Previously, she was legal staff at WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center in Geneva. Her activies are of international nature, which include work expericences at Cisco Systems Japan K.K. in Tokyo, Baker & McKenzie and Fédit-Loriot in Paris. She holds a law degree from Keio University in Tokyo and LL.M. from Queen Mary, University of London in London and CEIPI, University of Robert Schuman in Strasbourg.
